Gold solder is mixture of gold in various karat qualities which is alloyed to have a slightly lower melting temperature than your ring(s). In this way, we can add a small amount of gold solder between the rings and heat them with a torch to fuse them together. This procedure does not harm the rings and is reversible. You will not be able to wear one ring separate from the other afterward. They effectively become one, unless you ask us to take them apart.
No downside that I see. My wife's rings are soldered together and have been for 20 years. No one knows because the solder is on the bottom, so the rings still appear separate.
