Diamond

Diamond Characteristics

Diamond is a crystal of carbon. Carbon also forms into one other crystal: graphite. Diamonds are the hardest substance known to man. This means they resist scratching unless they are scratched by another diamond. They form in all colours. The black, brown and grey colours are most common and typically go for less money that other colours. Red, pink, blue and violet colours are rare. Diamonds are synthesized using High Pressure and High Temperature or by Carbon Vapor Deposition. Synthetic diamonds are man-made and traded as “lab-grown diamonds,” or lab-created diamonds.”
